My work is one part representational and nine parts abstract. Mixed media collage is my passion. With its layers and many levels of complexity and abstract design, it is irresistible to me. Its emergent character intrigues and motivates me.

My process has no unbreakable rules. It is intuitive, gradual and unpremeditated.  I begin a collage on handmade paper using images and materials I have collected or painted. I reconfigure these forms creating what I think is a visually pleasing assemblage until eventually the collage comes alive. At this point I step out of its way and allow the work to inform my hands as to what it wants in terms of composition, shape, color, value, depth and texture.

What evolves has an architectural quality, some recognizable images, no specific reality; each piece a new perception.
