Biography
Connie Lundquist took her first drawing lesson eight years ago with Brunswick-based artist Kathleen Boldt, although she had been “pasting stuff together” from childhood in suburban New Jersey.
Upon graduating from the University of Arizona as a philosophy major, she spent the next year sailing the inland waterway and through the Bahamas, finally dropping anchor in Camden, Maine. While there, she worked as a paralegal before attending the University of Maine School of Law and earning her JD in 1979. She began her legal career in Bath, Maine, becoming a partner in the law firm Fitzgerald, Conley, Haley and O’Neil, where her “edge art” doodles became characteristic borders to her legal notes. She retired from practice in 1996 while in treatment for breast cancer.
With a new open-hearted appreciation for the gift of life, she continues to take classes, expanding and developing her delight in making art. After opening her first studio at Fort Andross in Brunswick, Maine, Connie settled into her current studio at 98 Maine Street in Brunswick. She lives in Brunswick with her husband Jay and their two dogs Mr. Jones and Bean.
